Press Release
Exciting Time Ahead for Fourth Generation Farming Family:
Court Farm Shop’s Successful Butchery to Expand, Doubling in Size
With a fifth-generation baby farmer toddling around the farm, Lisa & Simon Knight certainly have their hands full running their Farm and Farm Shop with Butchery & Delicatessen in Stoke Orchard, Cheltenham. If this wasn’t enough during these unpredictable times, they, along with their dedicated team, are working hard to expand their Butchery in their already thriving Farm Shop.
Their new Butchery will provide a much larger counter full of their own farm produced pork, beef & seasonal lamb as well as a choice of new handmade items and locally & regional sourced products. The team already make a delicious range of sausages, burgers, grill sticks, meat loaf, chicken kievs, meat balls, faggots and run a fabulous offer all year round selling 3 BBQ packs for £12.
The expansion of their Butchery has created a great opportunity for an additional Full time Butcher to join the team alongside Mike Duffield, Court Farm Shop’s Head Butcher, who has been working with Lisa & Simon since they opened their Farm Shop five years ago. They are keen to find another experienced butcher who can join the team and contribute to product development. For details of their Butcher vacancy & how to apply, visit https://www.courtfarmshop.co.uk/about-us/vacancies/
This remarkable new development has also created more room in the shop to add more displays to build on their variety of local and regional products they already stock. This is great timing as we approach the Christmas season when you can visit Court Farm Shop to get your freshly cut or pot grown Christmas Trees, wreaths, hampers and a full range of Christmas goodies. Their Fantastic Butchery & Delicatessen Counters offer a Christmas Order Service and you can pre-order your Turkey, Vegetable Boxes, Cold Meat & Cheese Platters, Pork Pies & Homemade Scotch Eggs from October.
Court Farm Shop will be closed for four days from Sunday 20th September to Wednesday 23rd September to complete their exciting new refurbishment. They will re-open on Thursday 24th September ’20 on their 5th Anniversary. Definitely worth a visit!
Court Farm is built upon a strong history of traditional family farming as well as the valued loyalty of their customers. From modest beginnings of selling their own Free Range Eggs and locally sourced potatoes from their “Egg Shed” they are going from strength to strength with their award winning Farm Shop, Butchery & Delicatessen which specialises in the sale of traceable fresh meat both from the family’s own beef herd, lambs & pigs as well as from local and regional producers. They pride themselves on their traditional butchery service and delicatessen serving breakfast & lunch to go.
Simon is very dedicated and has a great understanding of his animals which shows in his quality of produce. Not only did Court Farm Shop win the 2016, 2017 & 2019 Cotswold Life Food & Drink award for Best Farm Shop but Simon is proud to have won both the 2016 Western Daily Press Award for Best Farmer and the 2016 Taste of Gloucestershire Award for Farmer of the Year! They have won the 2017 Western Daily Press Award for Best Independent Retailer and Best Family Farming Business.
All seven awards celebrate the best of farming and food production in the Cotswolds and the West Country. From field to plate, they are delighted to have won and achieved recognition for their Farm Shop, own produce and farming practices.
The last few months have certainly tested the Knight family as well as their team. They have all risen and adapted well to the daily challenges which the current COVID-19 situation has presented them with. Customers have sent the team at Court Farm Shop a number of messages of support:

“You will get support because people care about you all, it’s like a huge family, and I’m glad to have used you since you opened and I will continue to support you all, thank you x”
“Well done all of you. You are well and truly appreciated. Stay strong and look after yourselves xx”
Lisa says “We have been truly humbled by all the lovely comments and messages of support we have had over the last few months and thank everyone for your encouragement. It is so important to support local independent businesses now more than ever. Every single member of our team has put their own worries aside and gone above and beyond so we can continue to provide an excellent service to all customers and do our very best to feed the community during these unprecedented times. Every day they come to work and serve our customers with a smile. I am incredibly proud of them!
From all of us at Court Farm Shop we would like to say a huge thank you for all your support, kindness and patience. My family, team and I are proud of the work we do and are really looking forward to continuing to welcome everyone to our farm shop, delicatessen and brand new butchery.”
